David C. Malcein, of Bloomsburg and recently of Paoli, passed away on Sunday, October 4th, 2026.
Among many other things, David was a devoted follower of Christ, a farmer and machinist, and a great road trip adventurer. He kept a bathing suit in his truck and was always ready to take a quick swim in any clear stream or lake, didn’t mind getting a little lost now and then on a back road, was known to wax slides at playgrounds to make them faster for the kids, and was probably the most honest man you could meet. He joked once or twice that he’d like to die by being struck by lightning while driving his tractor, but that was never very likely to happen, and the important thing now is that he is with his Creator.
Originally from Southington, CT, David was born in 1953 to Paul and Arla (Owens) Malcein. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Debra (Tavalozzi) Malcein, and their three children: Eric Malcein of Benton, Anna Malcein King of Mechanicsburg, and Mark Malcein of Berwyn. He is also survived by a brother, Glenn Malcein of Wisconsin, and a sister, Susan Kiudulas of Virginia, and is preceded in death by his brother Wayne Malcein. David will also be deeply missed by his five grandchildren, Jane and Susan Beaverson and Dorothy, Benjamin, and Henry Malcein.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Friday, October 9th at Church of the Saviour, 651 N. Wayne Ave, Wayne, PA. Friends will be received from 10:00 until the time of the service. A brief burial service will be held the following day at the Columbia Hill Cemetery at 784 Columbia Hill Road, Danville. The burial service will take place at noon, with a luncheon and time of sharing and fellowship to follow at The Christian Gospel Fellowship Church, 2938 Route 42, Millville.
One of the many ways David tried to share God’s love here on Earth was through service, and as part of that service, he and Debra volunteered with Samaritan’s Purse, which provides for the physical and spiritual needs of those affected by natural disasters, and OurRescue, an anti-human trafficking organization. In lieu of flowers, contributions to either organization in David’s name would be appreciated.
