David R. Broadt, age 58, Fire Chief, Businessman
On 03/18/2023 Dave crashed into the gates of Glory to spend eternity with his Savior Jesus Christ and his Heavenly Father above. Dave was the son of Roger and the late Marilyn (Shuman) Broadt, all were life-long residents of Main Township.

Dave was accompanied on his thrill ride thru life by his loving wife Betty Jean (Vander Wiele) for the last 38 years. Dave is survived by two awesome kids, Bethany Broadt-Flagg (husband Bruce Flagg), and Jonathan and a brother Daniel and wife, Carolyn, all of the Bloomsburg area.

Dave was a 1982 graduate of Bloomsburg Christian School and 1983 graduate of the former Baptist Bible College. Dave grew up in his parent's farm equipment business, Tractor Parts Company/ TPC Power Center, which he and Dan eventually took over and expanded into a tractor distribution center that served Mahindra tractor dealers in about half of the United States and Canada.

Dave was a Fire Chief since 2001 at the Main Twp Fire Company, Firefighter and Vice President of the Espy Fire Company. Dave was the Secretary for the Columbia County Fire Chiefs Association, founding member of the Columbia County Christian School, member of the Community Alliance Church and Emanuel Reformed Church, Columbia County Fire Liaison for the East Central Emergency Network and Fire Liaison for the L.E.P.C. Board. He was also on several equipment associations and committees throughout his years in tractor sales including President of the Dealer Advisory Board for Kubota Tractors for 2 years.

Dave worked hard and accomplished getting his Firefighter 1 Certificate in 2019 at the age of 55. Dave was always striving to do better and be a better fire fighter for his community. Dave's accomplishments, achievements, and certifications are truly too numerous to list.

Dave, Betty and their kids were owners of the Early Bird Sports Expo from August 2007 to January 2020. Dave loved spending time with his family. He especially loved petting the family dog Murphy after he would beg for food at the dinner table. He was extremely proud of his wife and children.

Dave was a firm believer in John 3:16 and was proud to call himself a child of God. Everything he did was done out of a calling to be like Jesus Himself and to love others as He first loved us. Dave was passionate about sharing his faith with others and wanted nothing more than to know each person had eternal salvation for Everlasting Life in Heaven together. Dave will truly be missed by everyone that encountered him but rest assured he is in the arms of his Savior forever. His favorite verse was Isaiah 40:31: "Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; They will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint."

Family and Friends will be received Friday, March 24, beginning at 4pm at the Community Alliance Church, 1142 Ridge Road, Bloomsburg and on Saturday, March 25, from 10 to 11 am. Funeral Services will begin at 11 a.m. with Dave's brother-in-law, Dr. Dean Vander Wiele, officiating. Graveside services will be in Emanuel Reformed Cemetery, Mainville. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth St. is honored to be serving the Broadt family.
