Obituary

Darvin R. "Bud" Michael, age 89, of 130 East 12th St., Bloomsburg, died Friday, September 18, 2009 in the Geisinger Medical Center where he was admitted September 11. Prior, Mr. Michael had been a resident of Loyalton for three weeks and was a resident of his 12th St. home for 56 years. Darvin was born Sunday, November 16, 1919 in Beaver Twp., Columbia Co. a son of the late
Norman and Florence (Bauman) Michael. He attended Main Twp. schools and was a graduate of the Bloomsburg High School. Four days after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Darvin enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served the duration of World War 2. He was a member of Emanuel Reformed Church, Mainville; Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post 283 and local Masonic organizations. Mr. Michael was a mechanic and was last employed for over 10 years in the Bloomsburg University in the Maintenance Dept. On October 10, 2008, his wife, Naomi J. (Hinterliter) Michael preceded him in death, ending a 61 year marriage. Darvin was the last member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by three siblings: Naomi Sneidman, Harold Michael and Arnold Michael. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Thomas J. Fetterolf, officiating. Burial will be in Emanuel Reformed Cemetery, Main Twp. Friends will be received prior to the services. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Emanuel Reformed Memorial Fund, 146 Church Rd., Bloomsburg.
