Obituary

Darl R. (Kindt) Johnson, age 93, of Bloomsburg, died on Sunday morning, July 5, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family and under the care of Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice. She was a resident in Madison Township for over 72 years.
Darl was born on Tuesday, December 20, 1921 in Mt. Pleasant Township, a daughter of the late Bruce and Grace (Ruckle) Kindt. Throughout her younger years, she attended the former Ikelers One Room School House, and later graduated from the Millville High School in 1940. On March 23, 1941, Darl married her beloved husband, Edwin D. Johnson, and shared over 68 years of marriage together until his passing on July 28, 2009. Darl dedicate her life to her husband and family, and also helped run their family farm in Madison Township.
Darl's family and friends will always remember her talents as a wonderful cook and baker. She continued making her famous pies and cookies right up until her health would not allow her. Darl was very devoted, not only to her family and children, but was also a faithful supporter of many charities. She also supported those closest to her with her many cards and letters of encouragement that she would send. Darl and her late husband attended the Derry Mennonite Church, near Strawberry Ridge, for over 40 years, helping with Bible School and the sewing and quilting groups. Most recently, she worshipped at the Rock Run Assembly of God Church in Muncy Valley until her health prohibited her from attending.
In addition to her beloved husband of 68 years, Darl was also preceded in death by a son: Timothy Johnson on February 18, 1992; one sister: Charlotte Moyer; and five brothers: Claude Kindt, Kenneth Kindt, Woodrow Kindt, Paul Kindt and Bruce Kindt, Jr.
Surviving are three sons: Edward Johnson and wife, Pamela, of Millville; Reginald Johnson and wife, Vicki, of Bloomsburg; and Lincoln Johnson and wife, Helen, also of Bloomsburg; a daughter: Ellen Kehoe and husband, Joseph, of Bloomsburg; 14 grandchildren: Betsy, Jim, Eric, Katie, Matthew, McKayla and Wyatt Johnson, Wendy Wall, Rachel McGee, Ashley Monroe, Michelle Wagner, Steve, Philip and Mathias Kehoe; and nine great-grandchildren: Tyler, Shane and Cody Johnson, Faith and Graci McGee, Lucas, Noah and Madison Wall and Jacob Kehoe; a sister Shirley Lawton of Danville; and also by a brother: Blaine Kindt of Millville in addition to numerous nephews and nieces.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday evening, July 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 107 West Main at Railroad Street in Millville. Friends will also be received on Wednesday morning, July 8 from 9:30 to 10:30 at the Christian Gospel Fellowship Church, 2938 State Rte. 42 in Millville.
Funeral services will begin on Wednesday morning, July 8 at 10:30 a.m. at the Christian Gospel Fellowship Church in (Iola) Millville with her pastor, Rev. James Bechtel of the Rock Run Assembly of God Church in Muncy Valley, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Jerseytown Cemetery. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Johnson family.
