Dale K. Spaid, age 71, of Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg died early Monday morning, March 15, 2010 at Balanced Care at Bloomsburg. He had been failing in health for over two years. Born on Sunday, October 9, 1938, in Bloomsburg, he was a son of the late Arthur E. and Arlene M. (Decker) Spaid. Dale attended the Ben Franklin Training School of Bloomsburg State College and the Special Needs School in Fernville. For fifteen years, he was employed by Sun Com Industries, in Bloomsburg and also assisted many area disposal and coal companies. He was also employed by the former Ed Keller Shoe Shop in Bloomsburg. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Espy. He enjoyed being with people and had a multitude of friends. He was also a very avid Phillies Fan. His favorite hobbies include fishing, train and boat rides, and family trips. In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by a sister, Inez Wagner in 1991. Surviving is his sister, Dorothy Sitler of Bloomsburg; two brothers, Donald E. Spaid of Layton, Utah; and Glen A. Spaid and his wife, Susie, of Bloomsburg; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 18 at 1 p.m. from the St. John Lutheran Church, on 2575 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg with his pastor, Rev. Gordon E. Smith officiating. Interment will be in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market Street at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg, and Thursday, from 12 noon until the time of service at the St. John Lutheran Church, Espy. The Immediate Family will provide flowers.
