Constance A. (Austin) Hartman, 86, of Bloomsburg, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Vintage Knolls in Danville. Born in Bloomsburg on July 15, 1939, she was a daughter to the late Joseph T. and Leona M. (Longenberger) Austin.
Connie was a graduate of Bloomsburg High School and continued her education at Bloomsburg State Teachers College. On July 16, 1960, she wed Robert N. Hartman, with whom she would enjoy 56 years of marriage. Connie was a passionate and dedicated elementary school teacher at Danville Area School District, from which she retired after a career spanning more than three decades. She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church in Bloomsburg, where she had volunteered in numerous capacities throughout her life. Following retirement, she volunteered at multiple area food banks, most recently Agape. She was an avid walker, covering many miles in her daily journeys, and enjoyed gardening, crafting, and sewing. She also found much joy in baking, and in sharing her works with neighbors, friends, and family.
Surviving Connie are her son, James J. Hartman and wife, Sharon Olivia Hoff, of San Francisco, CA; granddaughter, Laila E. Hartman; brothers: Joseph T. (Tom) Austin, Jr., John Austin, Stephen Austin, and Peter Austin; sisters: Mary McLaughlin, Jean Risser, Susan Berlin, Cathy Fulkersin, Joan Faux-Cornelius, and Jane Austin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert N. Hartman, who passed away July 12, 2017.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, July 2, 2026 at St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron Street, Bloomsburg, with Reverend Richard J. Mowery officiating as Celebrant. Friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of the Mass at 11 AM. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., of Bloomsburg, is honored to serve the Hartman family.
