Obituary

Connie Marie (Kitchen) Kline, 55 of Bloomsburg, passed peaceful into the hands of her Lord and Savior in the presence of her family at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville on Wednesday January 06, 2021, after battling the Coronavirus.

Connie was born January 19, 1965 and was adopted shortly after by her late parents, Donald B. and Grace C. (Weber) Kitchen of Bloomsburg. She will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, second mother, friend, confidant and caregiver to many.

She was a member of the 1982 graduating class of CMAVTS Cosmetology class. She went on to get her teaching license and worked as a substitute teacher. She also had her own beauty shop for a number of years. Connie went through Dale Carnagie, and many other Business, Leadership and Personal Development Courses. She had been a Project Manager for Kawneer Co. but left in 2005 to provide full time care for her parents. She obtained her CNA through HACC so she could provide them with the best of care.

Connie was currently working as the Secretary, Code Enforcement and Zoning Officer for North Centre Township, Columbia County. She was a volunteer for the Natural Park Committee there. She was also Secretary for the Columbia County Township Officials Association. Connie had attended the annual Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors Conference for a number of years, and was a member of the first graduating class of the PSATS Municipal Government Academy. She was a Power of One Volunteer for PSATS and also sat on one of their Standing Committees.

Connie was a longtime member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg, where she taught Sunday School and Bible studies. She was a life member of the Bloomsburg Fire Department where she held various positions. She had over 600 hrs. of certified training. She was also a life member at Buckhorn and Lightstreet Fire Companies and also a member of Lime Ridge Fire Company and the Bloomsburg Firefighters Relief Association.

Connie found her purpose helping friends and families of recovering addicts and alcoholics through Nar Anon, Al Anon, and the Families Helping Families Group run by the Clearbrook Foundation. She was a 17 year breast cancer survivor, and advocate. Connie enjoyed writing poetry and stories, some which were published in the Press Enterprise. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends and loved assisting others with travel plans. Connie was able to search and locate her birth families and was received with love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Don Kitchen, Birth Mother Vickie Jasinski, Birth father Charles "Wayne" Chittam, brothers Scott Sweigart and Jeffery Chittam.

Connie was a loving wife to Wm. Herbert Kline for 37 years, a devoted mother to Kayla (Kline) McCready and fiance Robert Parker, Berwick; and Cody W. Kline, Bloomsburg. She was a loving "Mimi" to grandchildren Hannah and Elijah McCready, and Lily Parker, Berwick. She was a dedicated sister to Amy (Chittam) wife of Tim Scherg, WI.; Melanie (Chittam) wife of Steve Smith, AL; Robin Jasinski, PA, and brothers, Sean Sweigart, Mark Erickson and wife Wendy, GA.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 123 Market St, Bloomsburg with Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Orangeville.
