Conchita Vivas-Iberico, age 85, died Saturday morning, June 1, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was most recently a resident of Emmanuel Center in Danville.
Conchita was born in Peru on Thursday, July 7, 1927. In 1967, Fr. Dominick Mammarella of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Berwick invited her to come to St. Joseph's Catholic School to teach Spanish. She taught there for five years. In 1972, she moved to New York City, where she provided home care for the sick and elderly until returning to Pennsylvania in 1994. She resided in Bloomsburg for eight years before moving to Danville. She was a resident of Maria Hall from 2002 to 2011, the first three of those years serving as "House Mother" for Columbia Montour Home Hospice.
Survivors include her sister, Maria Teresa Delnis, her brother Jose Vivas Iberico and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staffs at Maria Hall and Emmanuel Center for their tender, loving care and attention.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 8 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Maria Hall, 1 Maria Hall, Danville with Rev. Dominic Azagbor, O.P., celebrant. Graveside committal services will be held in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
