Clinton John Oxenrider, age 79, a Bloomsburg resident for over 50 years, died on Friday, February 12, 2016, at the Geisinger Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Clinton was born on Friday, August 14, 1936 in Leck Kill, PA, a son of the late Clinton Alfred and Daisy Sophia (Clark) Oxenrider.
On February 23, 1957, Clinton married his loving wife, Shirley (Colley) Oxenrider of Montgomery, Alabama while serving his nation in the US Air Force. For over 35 years, Clinton was employed by Bloomsburg University as a Professor of Math and Computer Science until his retirement in 1998. Clinton was a member of the Shiloh Bible Church. He was also a member of the American Mathematical Society and Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post 273. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and puzzles. In his younger years he was an avid runner. His favorite pastime was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, son, Clinton John Oxenrider, Jr., and partner, Bill, of Haymarket, VA; Deborah Lehman and spouse, Bob, of Philippines; Barry Oxenrider and spouse, Dee, and Garry Oxenrider and spouse, Jan, both of Bloomsburg; 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; three sisters: Carole Kratzer, Margie Straub, Nancy Paul and a brother: Mickey Oxenrider, all of Millersburg.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, Feb 18 from 6 to 8 pm at Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth St. Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Friday, February 19, at 10:30 am at Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with his pastor, Rev. Dr. Douglas Lyon officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Lime Ridge where a combined group of VFW and American Legion members will provide military honors.
