Obituary

Christopher J. Vitello, age 61, of Catawissa, passed away in his sleep with his wife Sonya by his bedside on Sunday, September 13, 2020, a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Christopher was a resident of his home in Cleveland Twp. for over 18 years and previously lived in the Levittown and Morrisville areas.

He was born on Friday, February 13, 1959 in Bronx, NY, a son of the late Charles N. and Joan A. (Zoni) Vitello. Christopher spent his formative years in Staten Island, NY graduating from the Monsignor Farrell High School in 1977. He expanded his education by attending Pace University, New York, NY, while working in the brokerage and banking industries. On August 27, 1983, Christopher married his loving wife, the former Sonya Owsianik.

For over 10 years, Christopher was employed by the U.S Postal Service as a letter carrier in Staten Island, NY, Langorne, PA, Levittown, PA and Morrisville, PA until his retirement on February 14, 1995. Christopher attended Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Slabtown. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Mt. Carmel Council. Christopher enjoyed spending his time playing the guitar and piano, traveling, antiquing, he was an avid reader, and great conversationalist with a rye wit, he enjoyed playing chess, backgammon, and racquetball. Christopher also enjoyed collecting carnival glass with his wife and traveling with his family to foreign countries and experiencing different cultures. He loved attending the theatre, his favorite plays were The Phantom Of The Opera and Les Miserables. He enjoyed all musical genres from Elton Britt, Pavarotti, Enrico Caruso, Mario Lanza, The Who, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd. He was very involved with his son's life being a Den Leader in his son's Webelos pack, and a volunteer for his son's high school soccer team.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 37 years, Sonya Vitello, a son Christopher T. Vitello and wife Justine of Bloomsburg, two grandsons, James Vitello, Tucker Vitello, a brother, Charles N. Vitello, II and wife Patricia, a niece, Melissa J. Vitello, two nephews, Charlie N. Vitello, and Matthew J. Vitello all of Katy, TX.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, September 21, 2020 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg.

Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Pastor Mike Wynn, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Vitello family.
