Charlotte B. Powlus, age 81, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018, a patient of The Gardens at Orangeville. Charlotte was a resident of her home in Scott Twp. for over 35 years.
She was born on Sunday, August 23, 1936 in Frackville, a daughter of the late Walter and Agatha (Bolick) Beach. Throughout her younger years, she attended the Catawissa Area Schools and later graduated from the former Catawissa High School in 1954. Charlotte married her loving husband James M. Powlus on June, 30, 1956. For over 35 years, she was employed as a Sales Clerk for the former Ames Department Store, Bloomsburg and Berwick until her retirement in 1998. Charlotte attended Shiloh Bible Church, Bloomsburg. Charlotte was an avid reader, she enjoyed doing needlepoint and bowling.
In addition to her parents, Charlotte was also preceded in death by a brother Walter Beach, Jr. and a sister Joan Mowery.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 61 years, James M. Powlus of Bloomsburg; a son, Mercury B. Powlus and wife Jan of Little Rock, AR; three daughters, Wendy K. Billig; Mary M. Powlus both of Bloomsburg; and Ann M. wife of Tony Holland of Berwick; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will begin on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Elan Memorial Park, 5595 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, with Rev. Dr. Douglas H. Lyon, officiating.
