Charles E. Hack, age 80, a life-long resident of Greenwood Township, died suddenly on Friday afternoon, March 27, 2015 at the Geisinger Medical Center Emergency Room in Danville.
Charles was born on Monday, April 30, 1934 in Jerseytown, a son of the late Wallace and Vera (Shultz) Hack. Throughout his younger years, Charles attended the Jerseytown and the Millville Area schools. On September 20, 1951, Charles married his loving wife, the former Joan Kline, of Greenwood Township. Charles was self-employed for many years as a logger throughout the state of Pennsylvania. He never truly retired and continued his love of the sawmill working with his son, Jerry. He and his wife were members of the Millville Christian Church for many years. He was also a member of the Milton Moose Lodge L.O.O.M #171, the Bloomsburg Elks B.P.O.E. Lodge # 436, the Washingtonville Volunteer Fire Co., and Continental Fire Co. #3 in Danville. Charles served as Township Supervisor for 12 years in Greenwood Township. Charles loved spending time fishing with his family and grandchildren, and will be remembered for his talent of dancing. In addition to his love of working with lumber, Charles would also help his sons with work at Hack's garage in Jerseytown. Charles will always be remembered as the patriarch of his family, and they will continue to remember his love and memories shared with his family, children and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a brother: James Hack and also by a granddaughter: Amy Hack in 1978.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Joan (Kline) Hack of Millville; a daughter: Brenda Temple and husband, Ronnie, of Millville; four sons: Dennis C. Hack and wife, Joyce, of Millville; Douglas C. Hack and wife, Sherry, of Orangeville; Terry W. Hack and companion, Carol Thomas, of Millville; and Jerry D. Hack and wife, Patty, also of Millville; ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; and a sister: Thelma Rea and husband, Charles of Milton.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday evening, March 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 107 West Main at Railroad Street in Millville.
Funeral services will begin on Wednesday morning, April 1 at 11 a.m. also at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Millville with Rev. Richard Leonard, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Millville is honored to be serving the Hack family.
