Carole B. Ackerman , age 72, of Bloomsburg, went to be with her Lord on Thursday morning, January 25, 2018. Carole was a resident of her home in Bloomsburg for over 45 years.
Carole was born on Tuesday, May 8, 1945 in Glenside, PA a daughter of the late Ralph D. and Edith O. (Olick) Bruner. Carole graduated from the Upper Moreland High School, Willow Grove, PA in 1963. She expanded her education by attending West Chester University, Villanova University and Bloomsburg University, and graduated with Bachelor's Degrees in Elementary Education, Secondary Education and Early Childhood Development. On June 10, 1965, Carole married her loving husband, R. Stewart Ackerman Jr. For many years Carole was employed by Riverside Elementary School, Danville as a kindergarten and first grade teacher until her retirement in 1999. She was a member of the Emanuel Dutch Hill Bible Church. Carole enjoyed spending her time traveling with her husband, spending time with family and friends, gardening, knitting, volunteering, reading and being with her church family. Carole shared her love and kindness freely and will be missed by so many.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 52 years, R. Stewart Ackerman, Jr.; three children, Kristen A. wife of Keith Ikeler; Melissa L. Ackerman; R. Stewart Ackerman, III and wife Vicki all of Bloomsburg; six grandchildren, Benjamin Ikeler and wife Grace of Seattle, WA; Megan Ikeler of Bloomsburg; Sadie Ackerman of Bloomsburg; Mitchell Ackerman of Bloomsburg; Chad Lyman of Bloomsburg; Anela Lyman of Bloomsburg; sister, Beverly wife of Allen Greer of Furlong, PA; and a brother, Robert Bruner and wife Davis of Devon, PA.
A memorial service will begin on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 5:00 pm at the Emanuel Dutch Hill Bible Church with Rev. George Zerbe, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Ackerman family.
