Carol Joy Brenish, 90, of Elysburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 10, 2026, at her residence. She was born in Bigler, PA on December 27, 1935. Carol was one of six siblings as her father was a Coal Miner and growing up on a farm installed a high level of work ethic and value in the basic necessitates of life.

In 1957, Carol graduated from Clearfield Nursing School (connected to the Pennsylvania State University Nursing program). She traveled two years nursing in Texas, Florida, North Carolina, and Virgina. In 1965, she relocated to Bloomsburg and married William Brenish formerly of Hawk Run, PA. She spent 30 years Nursing with Geisinger in Danville before retiring in 2006.

Carol was fond of her grandchildren (Harmony and Landon) and followed the lives of nieces/nephews/cousins from her McDowell, McGuire, and Brenish extended families. She enjoyed gardening and planting flowers, nature, and was curious to engage and learn from others.

She is survived by her soul sister Katrina Lorrey of Elysburg. In addition, are her daughter Shana Brenish and her husband Mauricio Parada of Anaheim, California. Her son Kenyon Brenish and wife Christine of Park City, Utah. Two grandchildren, Landon Brenish of Tampa Bay, Florida and Harmony Brenish of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents Lynn and Velma McDowell; three brothers, Darrell, Don, and Paul McDowell, and two sisters, Theda McCulloch and Sonya McDowell Foster.

A celebration of life will be held by her family later this year. The Allen Funeral by Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Brenish family.
