Obituary

Carol L. (Artman) Kaler, age 75, of Millville, died unexpectedly on Friday afternoon, June 6, 2014 at her home. Prior to moving to back to the Millville area, almost two years ago, Carol resided with her husband in Homer, New York.
Carol was born on Wednesday, January 18, 1939 at home in Millville, a daughter of the late Maynard O. and Marion (Eves) Artman. In 1946, Carol's father passed away, and some time later her mother, Marion, re-married the late Luther Baker of Talmar who passed in the year 2000. Throughout her younger years, Carol attended the Millville High School and later graduated in 1957. Carol also expanded her education by attending college at the former Williamsport School of Business where she earned her associate's degree, and also attended for a brief time at the Thompson Cortland Community College. On August 16, 1958, Carol married her loving husband, Thomas J. Kaler. Together they lived in Homer, New York for over 40 years, where Carol was employed as a secretary for the Homer United Methodist Church and most recently by Rubbermaid Industries in Cortland.
Carol was a member of the Mill-Green United Methodist Church in Millville and also the Sinite Community Organization for many years. Carol was also known for being blessed with a very special gift and talent for gardening and growing beautiful flowers. Throughout her life, she always loved to expand her mind through self-education. She loved traveling here and abroad, watching birds, and also played a mean game of cribbage. Most of all, Carol loved her family and spending time in laughter and love with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and step-father, Carol was also preceded in death by a brother, James Artman.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 56 years, Thomas J. Kaler of Millville; three children: Tracy J. McVicker and husband, William, of Germantown; Matthew J.
