Obituary

Carl E. Derr, age 71, of East Hillcrest Drive, Bloomsburg died on Sunday, January 23, 2010 a resident of Orangeville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Carl was born on Sunday, June 11, 1939 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Myron and Jean Keyser Derr. He was a member of the 1957 Graduating Class of the Bloomsburg High School and also attended Bloomsburg University for several years. For over 20 years, he was employed by the Bloomsburg University Athletic Department as an Equipment Manager until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Bloomsburg.
For many years, Carl played baseball in the Minor Leagues for the former Milwaukee Braves. He was an avid baseball fan, but especially enjoyed watching and cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed spending his time hunting and fishing throughout the valley.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 49 years, Nancy Mausteller Derr, celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary in June of 2011; a daughter, Debra Pypiak and her husband, Nicholas, of Lancaster, PA and a granddaughter: Jenna. Carl was the last member of his immediate family.
Private Funeral Services will be held from the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Jay E. Jones of Wesley United Methodist Church, officiating. Graveside Services will be held in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
