Hoa an Bui, age 80, of Bloomsburg died on Monday evening, October 20, 2014 surrounded by his family at home and under the care of Columbia Montour Home Hospice.
Hoa was born on Sunday, December 10, 1933 in Binh Chanh, Saigon in South Vietnam, a son of the late Ba Van and Hiep Thi (Ho) Bui. During the Vietnam War, Hoa served as a Captain of the South Vietnam National Navy, and fought alongside the United States Navy SEALS based at Da Nang in South Vietnam. After the Vietnam War, Hoa was imprisoned for seven years by the Viet Cong. On July 14, 1954, Hoa married his loving wife the former, Hanh Ngoc Nguyen. On July 9, 1993, Captain Bui and his family arrived in the United States where he resided for the past 21 years.
In addition to his parents, Hoa was preceded in death by a son, Long Bui. Hoa was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Hanh Ngoc Nguyen, of Bloomsburg; ten children: Hung Bui of Bloomsburg; Co Bui and wife, Lan Khau, of Scranton; Phong Bui and wife, Thuy Bui, of Scranton; Trinh Bui and husband, Duc Do, of Oklahoma City, OK; Trang Bui and husband, Johnathan Gilliand, also of Oklahoma City, OK; Hang Bui and husband, Minh Luu, of Allentown; Suong Bui of Scranton; Thao Bui and wife, Kay Tran, of Lancaster; Tuyen Bui and husband, Man Le, of Stanton, CA; Phuong Bui and husband, Tung Ho of Millville; nineteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday evening, October 24 from 4 to 7 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will begin on Saturday morning, October 25 at 10 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg with Rev. Danh Cong Ho and Rev. Tuyen Thanh Nguyen of the Upper Darby Memorial Fellowship Church. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Lime Ridge.
At the family's request, memorial contributions in Hoa's name are graciously declined, and floral tribute will be gratefully accepted.
