Obituary

Calvin E. Cromley, age 72, of Bloomsburg, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by his loving family. Calvin was a resident of Bloomsburg his entire life.

He was born on Saturday, October 29, 1949, in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Charles E. and Dawn E. (Coutts) Cromley. Throughout his younger years, Calvin attended the Bloomsburg area schools, and later graduated from the Bloomsburg Area High School. Calvin expanded his education by attending Wilkes Barre Business College. He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1971. For over 30 years, Calvin was employed by J.C. Penny, Bloomsburg as a salesperson until his retirement. Calvin was a former faithful member of Heritage Baptist Church, Berwick and was most recently a member of the Bloomsburg Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Bloomsburg American Legion Post #273.

Calvin loved his family and attending church, attending Bloomsburg University basketball and football games, Bloomsburg High School football games, and the Bloomsburg Fair. He faithfully visited the Bill Rice Ranch in Tennessee, and he enjoyed watching Penn State and Miami Dolphins football games. Calvin traveled to the pyramids of Egypt twice and visited The Holy Lands in Israel.

In addition to his parents, Calvin was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Cromley, Jr. and Carl Cromley.

Survivors include his sister, Cathy A. Yantorn and husband Matthew of Bloomsburg, a niece, Lisa M. Vanderslice of Bloomsburg, two great nephews, Mason Halczak and Logan Halczak, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside funeral services will begin on Friday, September 2, 2022, at 10:00 am in Esther Furnace Cemetery, 83 Esther Furnace Road, Catawissa, with Rev. Craig D. Laidacker and Pastor Thomas Anger, officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Catawissa VFW Honor Guard. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Cromley family.
