Obituary

C. Joanne Knittle , age 80, of Bloomsburg, died on Thursday, November 15, 2018, a resident of the Mt. View Nursing Home in Coal Township. Joanne was a resident of her home in Scott Township for over 12 years and had previously lived in the village of Lightstreet for over 39 years.

Joanne was born on Tuesday, December 7, 1937 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Earl and Lillian (Patton) Thomas. Throughout her younger years, Joanne attended the Millvile area schools and later graduated from the Millville High School in 1955.

On October 27, 1956, Joanne married her loving husband, Chester E. Knittle of Bloomsburg. Joanne was a member of the Hidlay Lutheran Church. She was also an active volunteer for many years at the Lightstreet Fire Co. Carnival Soup Stand. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was an avid sports fan.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was also preceded by three siblings Margaret Young, Larue Thomas, and Deborah Thomas.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 62 years, Chester E. Knittle; two children: Dixie L. Priestman and Phillip E. Knittle and wife, Gretchen, both of Bloomsburg, five grandchildren: Nicole Price, Jeremy Robbins, Megan Scerbo, Kyle Knittle, and Zachary Knittle; 7 great grandchildren; twin sister: Jean Lutz and five additional siblings: Marion Thomas, Donald Thomas, Donna Holdren, Richard Thomas, and Dale Thomas.

A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg.

Funeral Services will begin on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with her pastor, Rev. Melody Sell, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Lightstreet Highland Cemetery. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Knittle family.
