Bruce J. Penman, age 86, 89 Reservoir Street, Bloomsburg, died Wednesday, February 18 at his residence surrounded by his family. He had resided on Reservoir Street since 1960.
Bruce was born January 17, 1923 in Wilkes-Barre, the son of the late Bruce Wentz and Margaret (Williams) Penman. He was a 1941 graduate of Benton High School. During World War II he served with the 8th Army Air Corp, 351 Bomb Group, 510 Squadron as a Waist Gunner on a B17 Bomber, stationed in Polebrook, England. Bruce had been a Lineman and Inspector for Bell Telephone, worked on the grounds crew at Bloomsburg University and was last employed by PennDot, retiring in 1982. He is a Life Member of Ft. McClure Post 804 VFW.
Bruce is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Faye (Mausteller) Penman; three daughters: Vicki Penman, Bloomsburg, Sandra Sabol, Bloomsburg, and Monica Howell, Millville; a son: John "Rick" Penman, Millville; grandson: Eric Sabol and great granddaughter Sierra Sabol.
He was preceded by a son: Mark Penman in 1979. Private funeral services will be held Saturday from the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg with Pastor David Borton, Columbia Montour Home Health Chaplain officiating. Burial will be in New Rosemont Cemetery. There will be a combined VFW/Legion providing Military Honors. The family will provide flowers.
