Blossom E. (Farnum) Bashore, age 91, of Bloomsburg and formerly of Mainville, died on Thursday evening, March 17, 2016, a resident of the Geisinger Bloomsburg Health Care Center in Bloomsburg.
Blossom was born on Friday, June 6, 1924 in East Orange, New Jersey, a daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Bennett) Farnum. Throughout her younger years, Blossom attended and later graduated from the East Orange High School in 1943.
Blossom came to the Bloomsburg area after marrying her husband, Donald R. Bashore, former pastor of the Emanuel Reformed Church in Mainville for over 30 years. While raising three children, Blossom also supported her husband in the church ministry, and all the responsibilities of caring for the congregation. Blossom was very secure in her faith, and loved the time she could spend with her family. She was a member of the Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary for over 30 years, and also many card clubs.
In addition to her parents, Blossom was preceded by her beloved husband, Donald R. Bashore, who passed on November 21, 1996. She was also preceded by her only son, James W. Bashore on July 27, 2003. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara L. Roeder of Bloomsburg, and a daughter, Donna Masteller and husband, Lee, of Catawissa; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, April 2 at 11 a.m. at the Emanuel Reformed Cemetery, 146 Church Road in Mainville with Rev. Brad Breisch, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Bashore family.
