Blanche C. Shaffer, age 97, of Tenth Street in Bloomsburg, died on Thursday, December 30, 2010 a resident of Grandview Health Homes in Danville. Blanche had been a resident of Grandview for the past nine years.
Blanche was born on, Tuesday, September 23, 1913, in Wedgetown, a daughter of the late Cleese and Mary Laubauch Girton. She was Salutatorian of the 1931 Graduating Class of the Bloomsburg High School. She was a devoted wife and mother to her family. She was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Bloomsburg
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, the late Harry R. Shaffer on December 18, 2001, and a brother: Warren Girton.
Survivors include two daughters: Barbara Lemon and her husband, Harris, of Mifflinburg; and Marilyn De Salvatore of West Chester; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Private Services will be held on Tuesday from the Allen Funeral Home of 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg, with Rev. Ralph B. Hartenbach, of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, officiating.
