Obituary

Blanche L. Hartman, age 91, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at her home in South Centre Township where she lived for over 74 years.

She was born on Tuesday, December 29, 1931 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Arley M. and Zella N. (Neufer) Flick. She attended Bloomsburg High School. Blanche and Cortez K. Hartman were married on October 9, 1948 and celebrated 70 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on October 10, 2018.

She was a homemaker for her entire life. Blanche was a member of Shiloh Bible Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and in their SHARE Ministry. She enjoyed helping at the Bloomsburg Fair Ticket Office when her husband was the Superintendent of the Grandstand. Her life revolved around children. After raising her own three daughters, as well as multiple nieces, nephews, and her neighbor's children; her attention turned to her own grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For over 70 years nearly every day was filled making precious memories with the children she loved, and all were more than blessed because of her. A highlight in her life for decades was a weekly visit by her loving niece, Joan "Sis" Permar and husband Kenneth.

In addition to her parents and husband, Blanche was also preceded in death by a daughter Susan H. Krum, two sisters: Beverly Houseknecht, Shirley Taylor, two sons-in-law: Larry "P Nut" Krum and Vernon "Ricky" Hill, Jr.

Survivors include her two beloved daughters, Sharon K. Devlin and husband Jack of Bloomsburg, Stephanie S. Hill of Berwick, eight grandchildren: Julie Hock and husband Darin, Shane Devlin and wife Kristen, Jason Krum and wife Tiffany, Shawn Devlin and wife Shanda, Brock Devlin and wife Carrie, Brooke Bowman and husband Paul, Ashley Dargan and husband Kevin, Kayla Hill. She is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Joan Frey and husband Dale of Chambersburg.

Private Graveside Services will be held at the convenience of the family in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg, is honored to be serving the Hartman family.
