Beverly J. (Gaugler) Dieter, age 88, of Bloomsburg, died on Sunday afternoon, June 7, 2015 a resident of Balanced Care of Bloomsburg since October of last year.
Beverly was born on Monday, February 28, 1927 in Shamokin Dam, a daughter of the late Daniel D. and Edna E. (Fisher) Gaugler. Throughout her younger years, she attended the Shamokin Dam area schools and graduated from the Selinsgrove High School in 1945. Shortly after completing her education she married her loving husband, Paul R. Dieter, Jr. In addition to raising her family, Beverly was the co-owner of the former Brick Hearth Restaurant from 1968 to 1976, and cared not only for management but also the records and bookkeeping. She was a devoted member of the St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Bloomsburg, and attended until health would not allow. Beverly loved spending time and every opportunity available with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Beverly was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Paul R. Dieter, Jr. who passed on January 1, 2001. She was also preceded by a brother: Delbert F. Gaugler; who was killed during World War II while flying in the Philippines. Beverly was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include three children: Paul R. Dieter III and wife, Cindy, of Bloomsburg; Marilyn E. Quick also of Bloomsburg; and Douglas D. Dieter and wife, Diane, of Raleigh, NC; and nine grandchildren.
A time of Visitation for family and friend will be held on Wednesday evening, June 10 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will begin on Thursday morning, June 11 at 10 a.m. at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 123 Market Street in Bloomsburg with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Orchard Hills Cemetery in Shamokin Dam.
