Obituary
Betty Jean (McCarty) Hoffman, proud to of reached the age of 90, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, a patient of the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital. Jean was a resident of her home in South Centre Twp. for over nine years and previously resided in Rupert.
She was born on Monday, November 17, 1930 in New Albany, a daughter of the late Clair and Elizabeth (Spence) McCarty. Jean graduated from the Elkland Vocational High School in 1948. On October 18, 1957, Jean married her loving husband, Zane E. Hoffman who preceded her in death on December 27, 2004. She was a member of the former Rupert United Methodist Church. Jean always stated that her four daughters were her greatest achievements.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was also preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Karie Jackson, a sister, June Laudig, three brothers, James McCarty, Bruce McCarty, Dale McCarty, three brothers-in-law, Edward Swingle, William Armes, Arnold Flook; four sisters-in-law, Pamela McCarty, Shirley McCarty, Scarlett McCarty and Bernice Flook.
Survivors include her four beloved daughters, Michelle wife of Peter Koban of Mifflinville, Kathleen Hoffman of Atlanta, GA, Bernice wife of Kevin Vought of Arden, NC, Stacey wife of Billy Putnam of Candler, NC; seven grandchildren, Brooke wife of Adam Jackson, Ryan Vought, Joshua Vought, Trevor Putnam, Adam Putnam, Samantha Putnam, Trent Putnam, a great grandson, Austin Sluder; three siblings, Kathryn Swingle of Bonita Springs, FL, Robert McCarty and wife Marcille of Mehoopany, PA, Barbara wife of Kenneth Marshall of Barbours, PA; and a sister-in-law and beloved friend, Linda Armes.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Jean will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Hoffman family.
