Betty B. Masteller, a resident of Bloomsburg and formerly of Almedia, died on Saturday afternoon, May 11, 2013, a patient of Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Betty was born on Tuesday, November 18, 1924 in Mifflin Township, a daughter of eleven children of the late Floyd E. and Caroline (Graham) Brown. Throughout her younger years, Betty completed her education from the Mifflinville School. On July 4, 1942, Betty married her beloved husband, Cap E. Masteller on July 4, 1942, they were married 70 years. Cap died on January 16, 2008. Betty devoted her life and love to caring for her husband and family throughout the years.
Betty was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Espy for over 50 years. She was an avid walker in the Bloomsburg and Almedia areas. As a dedicated volunteer with The Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary, she provided over 1000 hours of service. Stone Croft, Christian Women's Bible Study was very important to Betty; she was a participant for over 25 years.
Surviving is a daughter: Janet Puhak and husband, Michael, of Telford; two grandsons: Blake Puhak of Richmond, VA; and Adam Puhak and wife, Jennifer, of Pittsburgh, a great granddaughter: Emma Puhak; and also by three sisters: Eloise Lupini of Mifflinville and Kathryn Lupini of Berwick; Inez Keller of Berwick.
In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by seven siblings: Sherry Brown, Robert Brown, Howard Brown, John Brown and Roland Brown, Homer Brown and Donald Brown.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 15 from 10 to 11 a.m. from St. John Lutheran Church, 2575 Old Berwick Rd, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will also begin on Wednesday, May 15 at 11 a.m. from the church with her pastor, Rev. Gordon E. Smith, officiating. Graveside services will immediately follow in Lime Ridge.
