Betty J. Klawitter, age 87, of Catawissa, died on Sunday, August 14, 2016, a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Betty was a resident of her home in Catawissa for over 60 years.
Betty was born on Sunday, January 27, 1929 in Danville, PA, a daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy M. (Kreisher) Ebling. Betty graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1946.
Betty was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where she served as Sunday School teacher for 30 years, she also served as Vestry person and Altar Guild Directress. She served on the Altar Guild for over 50 years.
Betty was a faithful blood donor and was a multiple gallon donor. She also delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. She enjoyed camping, traveling west and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Betty was also preceded by her husband Lamar W. Klawitter, a daughter, Gail K. Klawitter and two granddaughters; Rachael and Rebecca Atherton.
Survivors include her four children: Jean L. Atherton and husband, Scott, of Catawissa, Alan L. Klawitter and wife Kathy, of Las Vegas NV; Dale W. Klawitter and wife, Mary, of Ione, CA, Susan L. Hall and her husband, Robert, of Spotsylvania VA; and six grandchildren, nine great grandchidlren, and sisters: Charlene H. Seevers and husband, Kenneth, of Ontario, OH, Marylouise Eves of Hartville, OH, Margy E. Fedder and husband, Sheldon, of Bloomsburg and Dorothy M. Miller and husband, Eugene, of Byrdstown, TN.
A Requeim Eucharist will be celebrated Monday, September 5, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Main and Iron Sts., Bloomsburg with her pastor, Rev. Howard Sasser, celebrant. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Klawitter family.
