Betty Ruth (Keller) Luchak, age 75, a resident of 379 East Third Street since 1935, and 330 W. Third Street, Bloomsburg since 1994 died Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the Bloomsburg Hospital.
Betty Ruth was born May 4, 1933 in Bloomsburg, the only child of the late Rutter Lynn and Alice Woodford (Williams) Keller. She was a 1951 graduate of the Bloomsburg High School, and a 1968 graduate of the Bloomsburg State Teachers College.
She was employed by Farmers National Bank from 1951 to 1964, and was a secretary to the bank president. She was a self-employed Secretarial Service. Betty Ruth was also secretary to Attorney Dale E. Derr of Bloomsburg, and was last employed at Bloomsburg University, retiring in 1994.
Betty Ruth was a life long member of Wesley United Methodist Church where she was past president of the United Methodist Women, and past president and treasurer of the Crusaders Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Sanctuary Choir for 25 years. Betty Ruth was also past treasurer of Trees in Bloom, served 6 years on the Bloomsburg University Alumni Board, volunteered with Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary, and was a member of the Columbia County Historical Society.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Theodore Luchak on December 15, 1971.
Survivors include one daughter: Melanie Ann Luchak-Javery, wife of Jon-Paul, of Las Cruces, New Mexico and two granddaughters: Alden Elizabeth Javery, and Caitie Madelyn Javery.
