Betty L. Fisher, age 92, of Bloomsburg, died on Friday morning, November 6, 2015 a recent resident of Geisinger-Bloomsburg Health Care Center in Bloomsburg. Betty was previously a resident of the former Loyalton at Bloomsburg located in Scott Township for the past several years.
Betty was born on Tuesday, February 27, 1923 in Bloomsburg, the oldest of six children to the late Paul D. and Louise (Oberdorf) Fisher. While growing up in the Bloomsburg area she attended the local schools and graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1941. She expanded her educating by attending the former Bloomsburg State Teacher's College. For 76 years, Betty was a faithful member of the First English Baptist Church in Bloomsburg. For over 40 years, Betty was employed as a secretary for Hutchison Insurance Agency in Bloomsburg. Betty loved to spend time at family functions throughout the years, and was always excited when they would visit her.
Survivors include her four siblings: Paul Fisher and wife, Mary, of Numidia; Josephine "Jo" Deiterich and husband, Larry, of Bloomsburg; Janet "Judy" Bennett and husband, Larry, also of Bloomsburg; and Charles "Chick" Fisher and wife, Marie, of Eyers Grove.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a sister: Mary Ruth Shultz in 2014.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning, November 11 at 10 a.m. at the First English Baptist Church, 700 Millville Rd., Bloomsburg with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Lee Barnhardt, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately following in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to be serving the Fisher family.
