Betty E. (Cotner) Kitchen, age 92, of Danville, died on Tuesday morning, February 25, 2020, a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Betty was born on Sunday, June 26, 1927 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Morris and Ruth (Wertman) Cotner. Throughout her younger years, Betty attended the Grovania area school, and later graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1945. On May 18, 1946, Betty married her loving husband, Fred R. Kitchen, formerly of Bloomsburg. In addition to caring for her family, Betty was employed by Stone Castle Inn for many years.
In addition to her parents, Betty was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, the late Fred R. Kitchen, who passed on February 26, 2011. She was also preceded by her son, Fred W. Kitchen, in February of 2008
Survivors include her son, Larry G. Kitchen and wife, Martha, of Bloomsburg; her son, Gary C. Kitchen of Milton; her daughter, Doris Ulrich, and husband, William, of Jerseytown; her son, Terry L. Kitchen of Danville; her daughter, Sharon Whitman of San Diego, CA and her son, Brian K. Kitchen and wife, Sharon, of Shamokin; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and her brother, David Cotner and wife, Bonnie, of Bloomsburg.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday afternoon, February 28th from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will also begin on Friday afternoon, February 28th at 2:00 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., in Bloomsburg with Rev. David Layser, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, Danville, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Kitchen and Cotner families.
