Betty Jean Barnhart, age 98, of Danville and formerly of Northumberland went home to be with her Lord peacefully on Thursday, August 29, 2024, a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Betty resided at Grandview Nursing Home, Danville from 2015 until her death.
She was born on Sunday, April 11, 1926 in Danville, a daughter of the late Howard Franklin and Iva Kathryn (Remick) Barnhart. Betty graduated from the Danville High School. She became an LPN, graduating on May 3, 1957 from the Philadelphia School of Nursing. Betty worked at The Sunbury Hospital as an LPN for many years until her retirement. Betty was a very caring person. She loved helping people. She also worked as a cook for Hoss's Steakhouse, Shamokin Dam.
In addition to her parents, Betty was also preceded in death by eight siblings; Robert Barnhart, Howard Barnhart, Jr., Faye Johnson, William Barnhart, Jane Brady, Marion Snyder, Bonnie Phleger, and Sherry Haas.
Survivors include her beloved sister, Joyce M. Hopper of Bloomsburg, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Monday, September 9, 2024 at 10:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Dr. Douglas H. Lyon, Pastor of Shiloh Bible Church, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Barnhart family.
