Beatrice E. (Derr) Zettlemoyer, age 87, a long-time resident of Rupert, died on Friday evening, April 3, 2015, a resident of Grandview Health Homes in Danville for the past eight years.
Beatrice was born on Saturday, August 20, 1927 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Calvin Derr, Jr. and Beulah (Titman) Derr. Throughout her younger years, she attended the Bloomsburg area schools, and graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1947. In addition to caring for her children, Beatrice operated a self-employed business cleaning homes throughout the valley. She was married to her loving husband, Kenneth Zettlemoyer of Bloomsburg for 46 years. She and her husband were members of the St. Peters Lutheran Church, Grovania and attended until health would not allow.
Beatrice was very involved with Grandview Activities; she especially enjoyed playing Bingo and other games with her friends. When watching television her favorites were NASCAR, Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune.
In addition to her parents, Beatrice was also preceded by her husband, Kenneth, on February 2, 1995 Beatrice was also preceded by a granddaughter: Jennifer M. Hoffman in 1998, a grandson: Kenneth Zettlemoyer in 1988, and seven siblings: Rosanna Greenly, Harold Derr, Arthur Derr, Edgar Derr, Clayton Derr, Ralph Derr and Isaac Lee Derr.
Survivors include her daughter: Jane Hoffman and husband, Ray, of Rupert; and her three sons: George Zettlemoyer and wife, Debbie, of Basking Ridge, NJ; Wayne Zettlemoyer and wife, Margaret, of Jerseytown; and Harry Zettlemoyer and wife, Sandy, of Tempe, AZ; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday evening, April 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will begin on Wednesday morning, April 8 at 10 a.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg with Pastor Bill Reno, Faith Chapel of Danville, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Lime Ridge. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Zettlemoyer family.
