Obituary

Beatrice B. (Baker) Guffey, age 88, of Bloomsburg, died on Monday morning, January 12, 2015 surrounded by her children and under the care of Columbia Montour Hospice.
Beatrice was born on Wednesday, April 28, 1926 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Thomas and Laverne (Krum) Baker. Throughout her younger years, she attended and later graduated from the Danville High School in 1944. Throughout her life, Beatrice devoted herself to caring for her children in the home in addition to a few short-term jobs. She was a member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Bloomsburg for over 30 years. She was also a member of the Bloomsburg Hospital's Women's Auxiliary for over 20 years. Most people would remember seeing Beatrice at the local voting polls where she dedicated much of her time, or playing a game of Pinnacle in one of the local card clubs. Beatrice always loved watching her grandchildren play sports, and spent a lot of time watching the Little League Baseball games in Bloomsburg where she was also past Treasurer for many years.
In addition to her parents, Beatrice was preceded in death by her late husband, Franklin P. Guffey, who passed on March 8, 1982, and also a son: James Allen Guffey on December 18, 2005. She was also preceded by a sister: Margaret Shoemaker, and four brothers: Joe Baker, Franklin Baker, James Baker, and Tom Baker. She was the last surviving member of her family.
Survivors include a son: Robert E. Guffey of Bloomsburg; a daughter: Linda Kay Fenstermacher, also of Bloomsburg; five grandchildren: Lisa Flick and husband, Jamie; Tom Fenstermacher and wife, Stacey; Jason Fenstermacher, Ava Guffey and Andrew Guffey; four great-grandchildren: James Flick, Kelsey Flick, Eliza Fenstermacher and Leah Fenstermacher; and a great-great-grandson: Ayden Flick.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening, January 14 from 4 to 6 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning, January 15 at 10 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg with her pastor, Rev. Audrey M. Brosious, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Lime Ridge.
