Barry F. Bankes, age 63, 10 Baker Lane, Bloomsburg, died unexpectedly September 24, 2009 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, after being stricken ill at his home. He had resided on Baker Lane for the past ten years, prior to that, he resided in Berwick. Barry was born December 12, 1945 in Berwick, the son of the late Cletus and Jean (Baer) Bankes. He was a 1964 graduate of Berwick High School. He was last employed as a welder at Great Dane, Washingtonville for six years prior to his retirement in 2008. Barry had formerly been employed by Columbia Industries and Berwick Forge and Fabrication. He loved boating, fishing and hunting. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Beverly (Weaver) Bankes, who he married August 12, 1989; two daughters: Lynette Ruckle and Lisa Bankes both of Berwick, step-sons: Brian Weaver and his wife, Barbara and Michael Weaver and his wife Sheila all of Millville; grandchildren: Zachary, Nathan and Kaelan Weaver, Blake Bankes, Colton and Tara-rae Ruckle; brother: Alan Bankes and his wife, Lois, Berwick; several nieces and nephews and his cocker spaniel: Belle. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. There will be no calling hours. The Bankes family is being assisted by the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg.
