Barbara A. (Roberts) Crawford, age 82 of Bloomsburg, died on Tuesday evening, November 3, 2015 in the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was admitted Monday.
Barbara was born on Sunday, July 23, 1933 in the Irondale area of Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Betty (Vanderslice) Roberts. For the past 10 years Barbara has made her home in Mt. Pleasant Township and formerly lived in Bloomsburg.
In 1951 Barbara graduated from the Bloomsburg High School. On August 4, 1951 Barbara married W. Ray Crawford who survives.
She was a legal secretary during her working career serving in Private Law Offices in Bloomsburg, Columbia County District Attorney Office, Adult Probation and District Justice Office for 20 years.
As a member of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, Barbara was Past President of Women in Missions and was very active with responsibilities in the Church kitchen. Additionally, Barbara was very active with PA Pets (Prevent Excess Through Sterilization). Her love of animals and her dedication to their wellbeing was a constant mission.
In addition to her husband, Ray, Barbara is survived by a daughter: Debbi C. Goeltsch and husband, Robert, of Carlisle; a son: Jeffrey R. Crawford and wife, Lisa, of Haddon Heights NJ; six grandchildren: Melissa Miller, Matthew Crawford, Michael Crawford, Stephen Crawford, Daniel Crawford and Maria Crawford and one great grandson: Jonathan Miller.
Barbara was preceded in death by two brothers: Jack Roberts and Terry Roberts.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening, November 5th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg. Friends will also be received on Friday morning, November 6th from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, 260 East 7th St. in Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Friday morning, November 6th at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ in Bloomsburg with her pastor, Rev. Stephen D. Engelhardt, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Canby Lutheran Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Township. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to be serving the Crawford family.
