Barbara Mitchell, age 76, of Madison Township, died on Thursday, June 8,
2017, at her home of over 25 years under the care of Geisinger Columbia
Montour Hospice.
Barbara was born on Dec. 30, 1940, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of
the late Leo and Vada (Mitchell) Sowards. Throughout her younger years,
Barbara attended Huntington area schools and later graduated from
Huntington High School in 1957.
On Dec. 30, 1999, Barbara married her loving husband, Michael Mitchell.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was also preceded by brother, Walter
Sowards.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 17 years, Michael Mitchell; two
sons: Michael Riley (Rosalie) of Sterling, Va., and Tim Riley (Carla) of
Sheffield Lake, Ohio; grandchildren: Blaine Riley, Jonathon Riley, and
Kathryn Michelson (Scott); great-grandsons: Leeland Riley and Cassian
Michelson; and a brother, Gary Sowards, and his family of Proctorville,
Ohio. She is also survived by Tim Riley's step-children: Russ, Linda,
Jill; and step grandchildren: Ricky, Edward, Joanah, Dalton, and Calvin
Bo.
Barbara was loved and will be missed by her entire family.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. The
Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 107 W. Main at Railroad Street, Millville, is
honored to be serving the Mitchell family.
