Obituary

Barbara Bardsley, age 87, of 330 West Third St., Bloomsburg died Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the Bloomsburg Health Care Center. She was a Third Street resident for 11 months, and a resident of East Eight St. for over 50 years.Barbara was born on December 18, 1921 in Exmouth, England, the daughter of William T. and Alice (West) Glover. She was a 1937 graduate of the Covenant of the Holy Family High School in Exmouth, England. She served with the British Army during World War II in the Tank Depot. Barbara retired in 1984 from the Duplicating Office at Bloomsburg University where she was employed for five years and was previously employed by W.T. Grant Co. for twenty-seven years as a Personnel Manager.Barbara attended the Stillwater Christian Church and was known as an avid reader. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Bardsley on May 11, 1992 and by her only son, Richard Bardsley on February 28, 2009.Survivors include two grandchildren: Andrea L. Nichols, and her husband Edward, Knoxville, TN; and Adam W. Bardsley and his wife Renee, Bloomsburg; five great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, with whom she resided , Penny (Stauffer) Bardsley; and a brother: Roland L. Glover, Exmouth, England.Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 5 at 11 A.M. at the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg with Rev. Scott Lyons of Stillwater Christian Church officiating. Friends will be received from 10 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be in New Rosemont Cemetery.
