Audrey J. Fitzwater, age 92, of Bloomsburg, died on Sunday, July 24, 2016, at home surrounded by her family and under the care of Columbia Montour Hospice. Audrey was a resident of her home in North Centre Township for over 15 years.
Born on Wednesday, December 12, 1923 in Watkins Glenn, New York, she was the daughter of the late David and Kathryn (Alden) McCollum. Throughout her younger years, Audrey attended and later graduated from the Jersey Shore High School in 1941.
For over 20 years, Audrey was employed by US Civil Service as a Bookkeeper until her retirement in 1974. She attended Bloomsburg Christian Church. She was also a member of the Quilters in Bloom, she enjoyed spending her time quilting and reading.
In addition to her parents, Audrey was also preceded by her beloved husband of 40 years, David H.Fitzwater on April 14, 1987.
Survivors include her daughter, Katherine S. Girton and husband, Gary, of Bloomsburg, PA; two sons, David A.Fitzwater and wife, Christine, and Jon G. Fitzwater, both of Jacksonville, FL; 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 5 to 7 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St. Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 1 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with her pastor, Eric Miller, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Elan Memorial Park. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Fitzwater family.
