Arthur H. Swisher, Jr., age 82, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Friday morning, June 10, 2022, at the Emmanuel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Danville.
He was born on Sunday, July 2, 1939 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Arthur H., Sr. and Blanche (Crawford) Swisher. Arthur attended Bloomsburg Area High School and faithfully served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on June 10, 1960. On September 3, 1960, Arthur married his loving wife, the former Vivianne Doris (Chevrette), who preceded him in death on June 1, 2022.
Arthur owned Swisher's Food Market, Route 11, Bloomsburg for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge, Post 436, the Bloomsburg American Legion, Post 273, and the Bloomsburg VFW, Post 804. Arthur enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and spending time at the family cabin near Talmar.
In addition to his parents, and wife, Arthur was also preceded in death by a brother, Douglas C. Swisher and a sister, Donna L. Swisher.
Survivors include his two beloved children, a son, Kevin M. Swisher and wife Linda of Bloomsburg, a daughter, Tammy S. Tarlecky and her companion Bill Huntington of Catawissa, five grandchildren; Justin M. Swisher and wife Victoria of Bloomsburg, Karen L. Tarlecky of San Jose, CA, Marie L. Tarlecky of Tampa, FL, Kirstie A. Marotto and husband Nick of Bloomsburg, Tony J. Tarlecky and fiancee Mackenzie Silver of Berwick, two great granddaughters; Natalie M. Marotto of Bloomsburg, Harper R. Tarlecky of Berwick, and a sister; Debra Davis of Berwick.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will begin on Monday, June 13, 2022 at 10:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Dr. Douglas H. Lyon, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg with military honors provided by the combined American Legion and VFW Honor Guard. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Swisher family.
