Obituary

Arthur A. Steiner, age 77, of Bloomsburg, died in his home on October 4th, 2023, of natural causes. Born in Berwick on August 4th, 1946 he was the first of four children to his late parents Edwin O. Steiner and Gertrude (Anderson) Steiner. He is survived by three siblings: Sharon (Maxfield) of Berwick, Ned Steiner of Stroudsburg, and William "Joe" Steiner of Bloomsburg. He is also survived by his two sons, Craig Steiner of San Diego, CA, and Chris Steiner of Camden, ME. Both sons are from his marriage to his late wife, Sharon (Avery) Steiner, to whom he was faithfully married for 52 years.

Arthur was proud to be called "Pop Pop" by his oldest son's three children, Jeanna, Erich, and Jakob, all of San Diego, CA. Arthur was a 1964 graduate of Berwick High School. In 1968 he graduated from the Bloomsburg State College, married Sharon, his forever love, and began his 36-year career, teaching American history in the public schools. After a brief spell in New York, they returned to this area and began raising a family in the home they chose in Sherwood Village.

Arthur will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul. He was a loyal and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who was always willing to help a friend or neighbor in need. Whenever time allowed, he could be found pursuing one of his many interests, especially his love of photography. His focus was often used to capture events such as family gatherings, weddings, and sporting events to preserve the moment to be remembered and shared with others. In addition, he was a lifelong tinker and fixer of things. He hated to see good stuff go to waste and could keep things in useful service for far longer than the manufacturers ever intended. He will be sadly missed by all those whose lives he touched.

A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
