Arlene B. Kressler, age 95, of Bloomsburg, died on Thursday morning, January 9, 2020, at the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital. Arlene was a resident of her home for over 50 years.
Arlene was born on Thursday, September 25, 1924 in Buckhorn, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Irene (Reichard) Brobst. Throughout her younger years, Arlene attended the Bloomsburg area schools, and later graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1942.
Arlene was a member of the St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Bloomsburg for many years. She enjoyed spending her time playing cards, attending family sporting events, as well as cooking and baking. Arlene was known to all as "Nanny".
In addition to her parents, Arlene was also preceded in death by her husband, Clinton A. Kressler on August 30, 1999 and her brother, Harmon Brobst.
Survivors include her two daughters: Sheila K. Michael and Connie R. Foust both of Bloomsburg; eight grandchildren: Lori Wilson and husband, Martin, of Lewisburg, Frederick J. Mercer and wife, Lisa, of Bloomsburg, Martin D. Mercer and wife, Kathy, of Bloomsburg, Clinton S. Mercer and wife, Jennifer, of Loudon, NH, Luke T. Mercer and wife, Jessica, of Holly Springs, NC, Charae D. Foust of Los Angeles, CA, Cristian C. Foust and wife, Rochelle, of Bloomsburg, and Cari F. McFarland and husband, Michael, of Bloomsburg, and 20 great grandchildren.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday morning, January 16, 2020 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, in Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will also begin on Thursday morning, January 16, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders, officiating. Graveside committal services will be held privately in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Kressler family.
