Arlene E. Hartman, age 98, formerly of Bloomsburg, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at the Chapel Pointe Senior Living Facility in Carlisle, PA where she had resided for the past two years. Prior to that time, she lived with her son and daughter in law in Mechanicsburg, PA.
Born October 19, 1924 in Bloomsburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Lee and Helen B. Edwards and was the youngest of five children. She was a 1943 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.
Arlene was a long-time member of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ and an associate member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg. Arlene enjoyed bowling, knitting, crossword puzzles and TV gameshows.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Earl H. Hartman Jr., who died September 2, 2004. Arlene was also preceded in death by a sister, Bernice Spayde and three brothers, Nevin, Donald and Albert Edwards.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Reber of Northampton; two sons, Michael Hartman and his wife Debra of Mechanicsburg and Gregory Hartman and his wife Donna of Delta Junction, AK; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family from the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg, with Rev. Dr. Karen Durbin officiating. Burial will be in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Hartman family.
