Arlene A. Denby , age 89, of Bloomsburg, died on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Geisinger Home Health & Hospice at Maria Hall in Danville. Arlene was a resident of her home in Bloomsburg for over 54 years.
Arlene was born on Saturday, July 7, 1928 in Zion Grove, PA, a daughter of the late Ralph and Cleo (Lindenmuth) Teter. Arlene attended and later graduated from the Nuremberg High School in 1946.
Arlene was last employed by Rea & Derick in Scott Twp. as Snack Bar Manager until her retirement in 1983.
Arlene was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, where she was also a member of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and the Love Quilters. She enjoyed spending her time gardening, quilting, crocheting, baking, raising African violets, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Arlene was also preceded by her husband of 56 years, Eugene F. Denby on March 31, 2010 and siblings: Harold Teter, Iva Mae Rarick, and Emily Teter. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include three daughters: Brenda Sabo and husband, Joseph, of Bloomsburg, Cathy Hartman of Harrisburg, and Donna Denby of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren: Blair Drake and husband, Michael, Jonathan Sabo, and wife, Caitlyn, Courtney Sabo, Erin Hartman, and Alex Hartman; and great grandson, Logan Drake.
Funeral Services will begin on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 123 North Market St., Bloomsburg, Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders, officiating. Graveside committal services will follow in the Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Denby family.
