Anthony J. Scarpino, age 88, of 45 Zajac Lane Nescopeck died on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 in Mifflin Township, Columbia County. He had been in failing health for several years. Anthony was born June 30, 1921 in Shenandoah, PA a son of the late John and Rose Mirocke Scarpino. He graduated from the West Mahoning Township High School. Anthony proclaimed himself to be a True Christian, a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. His favorite Scripture was John 3:16.
Following graduation, Mr. Scarpino served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He achieved the rank of First Lieutenant.
In addition to his parents, Anthony was preceded in death by his wife: Elizabeth Merschen Scarpino on January 22, 1993; two brothers: Frank Scarpino and Tobias Scarpino. Survivors include his very good friend: Therese Zajac of Nescopeck; a brother: Theodore Scarpino and wife, Blanche, of Fremont CA; sister-in-law: Rita Scarpino of Bloomsburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
