Anna Mae Layos, age 71, of Mainville, died on Monday evening, June 9, 2014 a resident of Grandview Health Homes in Danville.
Anna Mae was born on Saturday, October 24, 1942 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late John C. and Evelyn I. (Richendrfer) Layos. Throughout her younger years, Anna Mae attended the Mainville Elementary School and later graduated in 1960 from the Bloomsburg High School. Anna Mae expanded her education after graduating with the first class of the Geisinger LPN School. For over 46 years, Anna Mae was employed by Geisinger Medical Center in Danville as a Licensed Practical Nurse until her retirement in 2009. She was a member of the Shiloh Bible Church for many years and assisted in the nursery, church luncheons and a member of the "Happy Group". She was also a member of the Tri-Valley LPN Nurses Assoc. since 1971. Anna Mae loved spending time with her family, especially her nephews and nieces, and also enjoyed reading a good book.
Survivors include two brothers: J. Kenneth Layos and wife, Phyllis, of Mainville; and Donald E. Layos and wife, Marie, of Bloomsburg; four nieces: Meredith Arnold, Madeline Layos, Kimberly Orzolek and Beverly Fink; 3 great-nieces: Katie Orzolek, Annissa Fink and Kenna Fink ; seven great-nephews: Garrett Arnold, Alex Arnold, Jared Orzolek, Jalon Orzolek, Josiah Orzolek, Jordan Orzolek and James Orzolek; three great-great-nephews: Caiden Orzolek, Bryce Orzolek and Alex Orzolek.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening, June 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will begin on Friday morning, June 13 at 10 a.m. at the Shiloh Bible Church, 123 Church St. (Almedia), Bloomsburg with Rev. Dr. Douglas H. Lyon, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Emanuel Reformed Church Cemetery, Main Township.
