Anna M. Hess, age 96, Bloomsburg formerly of Lightstreet, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at her home in Espy where she lived for over 16 years.
Anna was born on Friday, July 20, 1928, in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Edward Downs and Letha (Hill) Downs Chamberlain. She graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1946, her senior class would write letters to the servicemen during WW II. On October 12, 1946, she married her loving husband, Doyle E. Hess who preceded her in death on January 20, 2010. She chose her career as a Homemaker. Anna was a member of the Shiloh Bible Church, Bloomsburg, since 1980. Her relationship with God and Jesus Christ was the most important thing in her life. She enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels, being a member of Christian Women's Club and Lightstreet Garden Club. Her greatest accomplishments were being the best mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents and husband, Anna was also preceded in death by two children: Carol Fuerneisen, Alan L. Hess; and a sister: Jean Ruhmel and her stepfather: Kenneth Chamberlain.
Survivors include her three loving children: Carl E. Hess and wife Irene of Berwick, Jeffrey C. Hess and wife Cheri of Harrisburg, Eric S. Hess and wife Catherine of Bloomsburg; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and a son-in-law, Frank Fuerneisen of Newnan, GA.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Shiloh Bible Church, 123 Church St, Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 11:00 am at Shiloh Bible Church with Pastor Bob Lehman, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Hess family.
