Anne L. (Metzinger) Gregory, age 97, of Bloomsburg, died on Monday evening, November 25, 2013 a resident of the Mount Carmel Senior Living Community. Anne had been a resident of Columbia County since 1941.
Anne was born on Monday, August 14, 1916 in Locust Gap, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late August and Regina (McAndrew) Metzinger. In 1935, Anne completed her education after graduating from the Mt. Carmel Township High School. For several years, Anne worked as a beautician in Wilkes-Barre, Sunbury and finally in Bloomsburg. After moving to the Bloomsburg area, Anne became employed by the former Magee Carpet Company where she was a member of the Women's Home Front Defense League during World War II. As employee of Magee Carpet Co., she helped manufacture canvas for the United States Army. In 1973, she became an employee in the Inspection Department of the former Bloomsburg Mills, Inc. for over 12 years until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of the St. Columba Catholic Parish in Bloomsburg for many years. She was also a former member of the Women of the Moose Lodge #721 of Bloomsburg. Anne dedicated her life to her family and children, and will always be remembered for the love she had for her children and grandchildren
In 1988, Ann was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Metzinger; also by a brother, Robert Metzinger in 1991 and a brother in infancy, William Metzinger.
Survivors include a sister: Theresa Sebastian of Locust Gap; two sons: Charles Gregory and wife, Gail, of Danville; and Duane Gregory and wife, Laura, of Bloomsburg; and six grandchildren: Gussie Gregory, Sean Gregory, Colby Gregory, Cameron Gregory, Jacob Meddings and Morgan Gregory.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, November 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg. A Wake service will begin at 5:45 p.m. also from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on Saturday, November 30 at 11 a.m. from the St. Columba Catholic Church, Third and Iron Streets in Bloomsburg with Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence, as celebrant. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Locust Gap.
