Althea R. W. Knapp, 97, formerly of Bloomsburg and Millville, passed away peacefully at Emmanuel Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Danville, on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026.

Born in Fountain Springs, on Sept. 19, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Mary (Harris) Woodside.

Althea attended Millville area schools. On May 4, 1946, she wed William E. Knapp, with whom she would raise her family and share 36 years of marriage prior to his passing on July 20, 1982. She was a longtime member of Jerseytown United Methodist Church where she had been active in United Methodist Women. Althea was a woman of many talents and interests. She had worked at many area businesses, most recently Knoebels Amusement Resort. She had also obtained certification as a health assistant and was a licensed realtor. Family came first for Althea. She was a consummate homemaker, had been Cub Scout leader, and was involved in the 4-H Program while her children were participants. She enjoyed gardening and sewing, as well as crossword puzzles. Althea was an avid softball player who participated in local league play. More than anything, however, she treasured her family, by whom she will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Althea was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William E. Knapp. She was also preceded in death by a son, Wayne Knapp, who passed away May 16, 2003; and siblings: Tressie Rupert, Arthur Woodside, Maurice Woodside, Leona Boudman, and Elaine Benza.
