Alice M. Yordy, age 77, of 2277 Crawford Road, Bloomsburg died Friday, June 19, 2009 at the Geisinger Medical Center. Alice was previously a resident of Brookside Village in Berwick, and a resident of her current address since 2003.
Alice was born on October 17, 1931 in Bloomsburg, the daughter of the late Harry W. and Luella M. (Kline) Weiss. She was a 1949 graduate of Danville High School. Alice was employed as a supply manager for Unitog, formerly Sunshine Laundry and Suntex, before retiring in 1998. She was employed in the Dry Cleaning Industry for over 40 years. Alice was an avid sports fan, and especially enjoyed all Penn State Athletic Events.
Alice was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Yordy, on January 6, 1970.
Survivors include a son: Jeffrey S. Yordy and his wife, Heather, Millville; three grandchildren: Amelia, Emma, and Sawyer Yordy; a sister: Betty Adams, Elysburg. Alice was also the guardian of two nieces: Valerie Eichenlaub, Purcellville, VA and Vivian Shrek, Williamsport; and a nephew: Victor Yordy, Wilkes-Barre. She is also survived by additional nieces and nephews.Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, June 23 at 11 A.M. at the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market St., Bloomsburg, with Rev. Tom J. Fetterolf officiating. Friends will be received from 10 A.M. until the time of service. Family will provide flowers.
