Obituary

Alice Mae (Fegley) Linn passed away on Thursday January 18, 2024 at the Emmanuel Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Danville, where she was a resident for the past 2 1/2 months. She was born on February 10, 1935 in Catawissa to the late James Alfred and Kathryn (Yeager) Fegley.

Alice was married to Ronald C. Linn for 63 years before his passing on February 7, 2022. Mrs. Linn spent her school years at the former Catawissa schools graduating with the class of 1953. After high school she enrolled in and graduated from the former Bloomsburg State Teachers College in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. Alice was hired by the Bloomsburg School District and taught 4th and 5th grades for 20 years at Bloomsburg Memorial School. She also spent 1 year as an art teacher for four Bloomsburg Schools in the district.

After her retirement Mrs. Linn did volunteer work for The Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary, The Bloomsburg University Alumni Association and The Red Cross. She was a member of the Chapter # 279 Order of Eastern Star where she held many offices including Worthy Matron. Alice also belonged to the former Catawissa Methodist Church.

Mrs. Linn is survived by two brothers and a sister; James R. Fegley and his wife Shirley, Patricia Dendler and her husband Fred, Morton J. Fegley and his wife Thelma. She is also survived by a sister-in-law; Sandy B. Fegley, a brother-in-law; Douglas Ensley, several nieces and nephews. As well as her extended family who knew her as "Grammie Alice"; Peggy LeVan of Bloomsburg, Pamela Yost and her husband Kevin and their son, Emmitt Yost of Orangeville, and Suzanne LeVan and her companion Steven Stryker of Bloomsburg.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother; Gary Y. Fegley, a sister; Sandra Ensley and by Larry LeVan, an extended family member and dear friend.

The extended family would like to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation for the ongoing love and care shown to Alice which allowed her to stay in her home. A heart felt Thank You to Shonny, Claire, Frances, Cathy, Linda, Heather, Sherry, Sherrie, Roxanne. An additional Thank You to the staff at Maria Joseph Manor and Emmanuel Center for all your care.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Hillside Cemetery, Catawissa. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Linn family.
